The Role of Insects & Worms

Insects are the most successful animals on earth, not only being the most abundant, but living in every corner of the environment, from air, to plants, to soils, to water.

Budding biological scientists will take out their magnifying glasses to observe, identify and catalogue different varieties of insects in our gardens, while learning about their essential roles in pollination, as part of the plant and animal ecosystem and as a critical factor in permaculture and sustainable growing.

Gippsland is also home to among the world’s largest earthworms, so it’s a great place to learn how worms are key to soil health, by converting leaf waste into nutrients than can be used by plants.
